   The village of Tarbert

The village of Tarbert is situated in the north of the Kintrye Peninsula. The village is well served with shops, hotels and restaurants. The village has a 9 hole golf course, an all weather tennis court, facilities for loch and sea fishing and various forest and hill walks.

 

From the East Pier in the village you can make the 20-minute ferry journey across Loch Fyne to Portavadie on the Cowal Peninsula. The islands of Arran, Gigha and Islay all have ferry terminals a short bus or car journey from the village. The village is 38 miles from Campbeltown and 48 miles from Oban. South of Tarbert takes you down towards the Mull of Kintyre. North of Tarbert takes you to Mid-Argyll where the Picts established their foothold in Scotland.

 

Information on the area can be obtained from the Kintyre Tourist Centre which is situated in the village of Tarbert and is open April to October.
